I'm Shaylee! I studied CS at Wellesley College and MIT, where I also did research in Navigational Affordance and Prosody Prediction by LLMs. My favorite classes were Software Construction, Organic Chemistry, and Automata Theory (which I TA'ed for).
After graduating, I lived in Brooklyn for a few months and attended The Recurse Center. I started designing for my friends' apps and websites. While in Brooklyn, I sang in a shoegaze band called Megashop.
Nowadays I live in San Fransisco and work as a designer + engineer at a fintech startup called Wefunder.
I love learning, making art, and being outside -- and am committed to these things forever! I am also high in openness to new experiences. I recently memorized 大学, mostly as a way to learn more Chinese but also to explore spaced repetition and more generally, programmable attention. Something that's been on my mind lately is the contrast between Chinese and US philosophies around education and growth, and how these differences might affect people's attitudes toward new technologies.
